Pharmacist Group Launches National Alert System to Prevent Medication Errors
The American Society of Heath-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in collaboration with the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) has launched a national alert system to prevent dangerous errors in medication. The system is called the National Alert Network for Serious Medication Errors (NAN). The alert is set off when there has been a harmful or a potentially harmful error. The alert includes a detailed description of the error, and will also come with recommendations that will prevent such medication errors in the future.
